Gotta Make Time! Gotta Make Time!

There is an episode of M*A*S*H where Major Charles Emerson Winchester III has a long awaited leave scheduled in Tokyo. As he is preparing to leave, a Manchurian wind storm blows in preventing his helicopter transport from arriving, but, if he can make it to Seoul by jeep, the Japan shuttle should still be flying into Tokyo. With Corporal Maxwell Q Klinger as his driver, he is off to catch a flight and hopefully salvage his vacation plan. Almost immediately they encounter a slow moving convoy that will prevent them from reaching the destination in time. When the Sargent at the checkpoint offers an alternative route, Major Winchester jumps at the alternative and when asked, “Do you want to right this down?”, he replies “Gotta make time! Gotta make time!”. Naturally, you know what happens … they get lost, wander hopelessly, end up spending the night during an fierce windstorm in an overturned truck with a bunch of wounded Greek soldiers and in the morning discover that they had almost frozen to death a couple of hundred yards outside their camp!

The prayer team landed in Togo after 10pm on Friday. By the time we got back, it was after midnight. And then the announcement, “Breakfast at 7:15am – out the door at 8:30”!

Normally when you bring in a group of “mature” adults with over 20 hours of flight time into a mission trip, the first day is slow with a meet and greet, general orientation, cultural awareness, general overview of mission expectation and some sight seeing. But not us…

… Sorry for the pause …

Had to head to the other side of the porch – rain is blowing half across the screen porch where I am typing this.

Every day – up early, leave quick. We have the ambitious goal of prayer walking and sharing the Gospel in 40 unreached villages in our time here. As time permits, I will give you an update on each adventure, but at the moment, rain is pouring, roads are being washed out, we have to pack lunch ’cause we’re not coming back until late and I have to grab a bite to eat as we get ready to head out.

Gotta make time! Gotta make time!

We would to have you join in this adventure. If you would like to joint us in prayer, you can adopt your own village. Follow this link and select 1000 x 1000!
