No Second Tunic, No Extra Sandals

Our luggage finally arrived yesterday! 3 Bags arrived overnight and we collected them in the morning. That included all of Laura’s Farmacy and clothing (but not her coffee creamers). The 4th bag didn’t arrive until last night with the rest of the team(10 folks from the states that are here for a prayer event). I picked it up about 10:30 last night.

The missing bag was mostly the overflow as I was balancing the weight in the suitcases, so it was somewhat random. Unfortunately for me it was all of my shirts and shoes. I guess I would have survived with just 2 shirts and the shoes I had on. But it is nice to have my walking shoes and the opportunity to not have to do laundry every night!

I know, “1st World Problems”.

When Jesus sent His disciples out, he told them:

Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, 10 or a [j]bag for your journey, or even two coats, or sandals, or a staff; for the worker is worthy of his support. Matthew 10:9&10

Already I was in violation – I had 2 shirts. It was a good reminder of our blessings. The experience really adds nuance to James 1:2-4 “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” Joy can be in realizing the loss only exists because the blessings preceded and you are never lacking the truly important and necessary things.

Today we start early. Breakfast at 7:15am, out the door by 8am, visit the TTI training center and the slave market, grab a quick lunch and then split up to prayer walk 5 villages.

I’ll tell you about it in the morning!
